I am planning a trip in late January thru early February for a family with two weather sensitive children, and was wondering how I should pack clothes for the weather during that time of year. Any suggestions?

My husband and I have vacationed at WDW many times at the end of January/beginning of February. My son has also been to WDW during this time of year.

While we have experienced some very warm weather, more frequently the weather has been mild and sometimes very cold.

I always pack layers. You'll want to watch accuweather.com for the 15 day forecast prior to your departure day. This will allow you to add more shorts or jeans, if needed.

Usually I pack a couple pairs of shorts but mostly pants. I recommend t-shirts with sweatshirts to layer over them. When the sun heats up, you can easily shed the outer layers.

I was just watching a family vacation video recently and noticed that we were primarily in jeans, sweatshirts AND jackets. Even during the day!

While crowds are low, the weather is unpredictable in late January.

In 2002, the weather was unexpectedly very hot.

Many years ago, pre-parenthood, my husband and I were in Orlando when it was so cold that I was glad to find gloves in the pocket of my coat!

Most importantly, watch the long range forecast so you know what you can take out of your suitcase and what you should add. We have never had a lot of rain during this time of year but it's always best to be prepared for rain and/or chilly wind.

    Some stats:
It seldom gets above 80 in January.
    Average rainy days, 6
    Average low 50
    Average high 72

For the kids, you'll want sweatshirts and jackets with hoods. Tuck in a pair of gloves or mittens in their pockets.
