We’re planning a 1st trip for our kids (8,4,2) and looking at the first week in November. I see there’s a Wine & Dine half marathon weekend. Is that a good time to visit Magic Kingdom? Where’s the best way to get deals and plan an affordable trip?

    Hi there!

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question. I am very excited you are planning your kids' first Walt Disney World Resort trip! Although I grew up taking vacations to Disney destinations, it was a completely difference experience bringing my kids for the first time. I love seeing the magic through their eyes!

You are correct that the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend takes place from November 1 through November 3, 2024. Marathon weekends are usually busy as Guests from all over the world visit Walt Disney World to participate in the races. Fortunately, the races usually finish before the theme parks open. Impacts to non-racing Guests generally include a few road closures and parks that are a little busier than normal for that time of year. I suggest relying on complimentary Walt Disney World transportation during this period instead of driving to the parks. Otherwise, you may accidentally end up in a Cast Member parking lot like I did one year (oops!).

Disney Resorts Collection Resorts offers are often limited during race weekends in my experience, but anything is possible! I recommend checking the Special Offers, Deals & Discounts page to see if any deals apply to your family. Disney Resort Collection Resorts are organized into three categories: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe. Value resorts are typically the lowest-priced option. Both Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort are value resorts connected to the Disney Skyliner, my family's favorite transportation option to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Standard rooms at these resorts usually include 2 beds, but Guests can request a crib for a young child when making reservations or upon arrival, subject to availability. Pack 'n Play playards are usually the crib that is provided.

If you would like a little more room, consider booking a Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. These large suites have adorable themes, including The Little Mermaid, Cars, The Lion King, and Finding Nemo. Another option is the Standard View - 5th Sleeper room at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, which is a moderate resort connected to the Disney Skyliner. It also has a fabulous pool!

Personally, I love the holidays at Walt Disney World, which usually kick off in mid-November. If you wait a couple of weeks, you might be able to experience this most magical time of year! There are many fun events could take place then, including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Disney Jollywood Nights, holiday dining, and more.

There are many things to consider when planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! If you have additional questions, please reach out to us again!

Wishing you a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
