Planning a trip for June. Have the quick service dining plan. My nine year old wants to know if "Has" to order from the kids quick service menu or if he can order from the adult menu. Sometimes the kids meal is just not enough. Love the panel.

    Hi Karen,

I've faced this dilemma myself several times. In fact, on our last trip, my 9 year old son had the very same question. In short the Disney Dining Plan states that, "Guests ages 3-9 must order from a children’s menu where available." Your son will be registered as a child, and when they swipe your card to redeem your credits, they will see that he should be ordering off the kids menu.  My 9 year old is a big eater, and often eats much more than I do. What I ended up doing several times was I'd order something that I knew he would also enjoy. Then, I'd share my meal with him (and he'd also eat his own child sized meal). The adult portions are quite large. You will find that there are a couple restaurants that do not distinguish between a child and adult meal on the menu, so he can have the same thing as you. The one that comes to mind immediately is Pizza Planet at Hollywood Studios. We go there every time for this exact reason. The menu is very basic, "pizza, salad and dessert". They serve personal sized pizza's (which feed one person), and he'll be able to have his own.

I completely understand your situation, and as much as I'm not looking forward to paying $30 more per day for my son next time (as he'll be 10 years old then), I'm excited that he can order whatever he wants off the menu.

You may find that booking a few character breakfast buffets works well for you (paying cash). He can fill up first thing in the morning, and he'll be less likely to be as hungry throughout the day. Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's and Donald's Safari Breakfast are 3 of our favorites.

Hope this helps and have a magical vacation,
