We are planning a trip for June, 2015 with grandsons ages 3 and 4 and want to minimize time spent waiting for and riding buses. Which of the Port Orleans resorts would make travel easier to the Magic Kingdom? Which room locations would be best?

    Howdy Jaynie,

It's always great to see fellow Texans stop by and ask questions here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and French Quarter are my favorite hotels in the moderate category, so I think you have chosen well. The buses between the two resorts are shared, but here is the kicker. Typically, the buses pick up at French Quarter and move on to the Riverside bus depots. However, Magic Kingdom is the exception. Once it has picked up at the "Blues" and "Jazz" bus stops near the front entrance to the resort, it will go directly to Magic Kingdom. Keep in mind that transportation could vary or change without notice, but that has been how it has traditionally been routed.

In regards to getting a room location that is both conveniently located near a bus stop, French Quarter Square (main building) and the Doubloon Lagoon (main pool area), I would suggest requesting a room in building 4. Another alternative option would be building 5, but some of those rooms could be at the back of the resort near the Sassagoula River, thus making it a bit more of a walk to the bus stops. However, it still wouldn't be but about a 5 minute walk. Please note that room requests cannot be guaranteed and are based on availability upon check-in. But, I have always felt that the cast members do their very best to accommodate.

Have a magical trip and be sure to have the beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory (food court) at least once during your vacation. They are absolutely scrumptious! My mouth is watering right now just thinking about them.
