Hi! I am planning a trip for July. I have a couple questions... can a Disney package payment be split on two separate cards? Also, is there a refund policy outside of the travel insurance option? Thank you!

Hey Howdy Hey Mike and welcome back to planDisney!

Looks like in a few short months you will be on your way to visit us here in the Most Magical Place on Earth! With preparations underway for your final months of planning, let's talk about your payment options as well as the cancelation policy that I hope you will not need.

First off with regards to making your final payments. For all vacation packages, you are required to put in a $200.00 deposit for your vacation and the final amount is due 30 days from your date of arrival. If you wanted, you can make payments on your vacation up until that point, or you can wait and pay the full amount when it is due. You should be able to pay the amount on separate cards if you choose, just follow these steps:
    • Long onto your My Disney Experience account
    • Under the "My Plans" section, scroll to "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets"
    • Look for a "Make Payment" link on the far right
    • Follow the prompts to make a payment and you should be given the option to say how much you want the payment to be. You should also be prompted each time to put in the credit card information as this is not something that is stored at this point in the vacation planning and where you can use the separate cards.
In regards to the cancelation policy of a vacation package, the details of a refund all have to do with timing. If you need to cancel your trip 30 days or more from your date of arrival, you will be able to get your deposit back and any amount paid without an issue. Any cancelations from 2 to 29 days from your date of arrival, you will be charged a $200.00 cancelation fee but will get the rest of your refund. Anything less than 2 days, you forfeit the amount paid. Within the 30 day window from your date of arrival, you can always reschedule your trip and move to a later time for a $50.00 charge and any difference in price if you move to a more expensive time of the year.

Sounds like you are already looking into travel insurance which I feel is a must on any vacation. Make sure to read the policy closely as if you need to cancel your trip and need to supplement any fees lost. Reimbursement may depend on the reason for your cancelation and will also outline any documentation you may need as well. You have until 30 days from your date of arrival to add this option if you go with travel insurance provided by Disney.

I hope everything is smooth sailing for you the rest of the way planning your trip as well as taking your Magical vacation. If you have any further questions let us know!

    Happy planning,

    Nick
