Hello. I am planning a trip with my husband and three kids (9 months, 2 and 5) in 2012. How do you get the best rate? Right now there is no discount for our planned trip since it is so far in advance. Any suggestions?

    Hi Alison,

I usually book a room only reservation until discounts are released. Then, I price out a discounted package and a discounted room when special offers are released.

Sometimes purchasing the components of your trip separately is a cost savings and other times the package works out better. It really depends on the time of year that you are visiting and where you are staying at WDW.

Once discounts are released, you can have the new rate applied to your existing room only reservation by calling 407-W-DISNEY. Or, you can cancel the room only and book a package.

My favorite resource for learning about discounts and how to get the most out of my WDW vacation budget is!
