Planning trip for me, hubby, 6yo, 4yo, 2yo, and 5 months. We want to stay in a reg. room at the AKL, but it says that we are over the room occupancy (bc of having 2 kids under 3). Am I able to pay a fee for having an extra infant in the room?

    Hi Jessica,

I called the number listed for Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and inquired about which rooms can accommodate a family your size. Unfortunately the standard rooms at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort have occupancy limits of 4 Guests plus 1 child under the age of 3. Therefore your family exceeds the maximum occupancy limits for a standard room at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. These are occupancy limits and you cannot pay an extra fee to add another Guest.

My advice is to call the phone number listed above and discuss other options to you with one of the Disney Cast Members. If you have your heart set on Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort then perhaps you can book a Deluxe Room or Suite, both of which are Club Level rooms. Another consideration is to book one of Disney Vacation Club's (DVC) Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas. I am also a Mother of 4 and find most standard hotel rooms (Disney or otherwise) are unable to accommodate my family of 6.

If you are open to other Deluxe category Resort hotels you will find that there are others which have room occupancy which allow 5 Guests plus 1 infant under age 3 in a crib. When my youngest was under 3 this was a great value for us since we did not need to book 2 rooms to accommodate our family. There are also Family Suites in the Value Resort category which sleeps 6 Guests and some rooms in the Moderate Resort hotel category which sleep 5 Guests (plus 1 infant under 3 in a crib).  These rooms can be quite popular, so booking early will give you the best advantage for securing the Resort you desire.

Good luck Jessica!  Please let us know if we can help you with any further vacation planning questions.

    Blessings,
