We are planning a trip which happens to overlap the weekend of the Star Wars Half Marathon in April. How bad will the crowds be at the parks (Saturday thru Tuesday)? Thank you!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Patricia! May the Force Be With You as you prepare for your upcoming trip! I just got back from the 25th anniversary Walt Disney World Resort Marathon weekend, and my feet are tired! The crowds just after the holiday were as thick as peanut butter, but I’ll tell you how to correctly guess-timate your crowd levels in the parks!

Whenever I book at Walt Disney World Resort trip (or one to Disneyland Resort, for that matter!) I always consult UnderCover Tourist’s Crowd calendar. When you google search for that term, you’ll find a yearly breakdown of crowd level on a scale of 1-10, with warnings against an overly crowded park or “green for go” for the best places to visit that day. This calendar will give you your best guess as to crowd levels and where you should head while runners take their post-race naps. Mornings should be much lighter than afternoons since the racers will be touring around the roads, but make sure to check rundisney.com for routes so you won’t be put up against racers dashing through Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios. I always schedule a Resort day so I can enjoy the warmed pools, hot tubs, amenities or playgrounds with my children, so this may be a great thing to do on Sunday during the Half Marathon while roads clear.

If you have any more questions about your upcoming vacation, please let me know. I’m hEAR to help! ~ Lindsey P.
