We are planning a trip but I want to go at an off peak time like jan-feb. I have 3 boys, is it even warm enough for them to be able to swim at the resort and go to the water parks at this time?? TY

We've vacationed in Walt Disney World countless times in January and many times in February as well. January weather can certainly be unpredictable. The only thing that you can count on is needing to pack layers.

We've had pleasant weather on most of our trips. Jackets needed in the mornings and evenings and just a lightweight sweatshirt in the afternoons. We've also had a few trips where the weather was hot and we could wear shorts. And unfortunately, there's been a few times where we actually needed our winter coats and gloves.

The norm though is in the "pleasant" range. This past January, we had a few days that were warm enough for the water parks. We actually made it to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. We also had a day that was absolutely freezing cold. Unpredictable!

The one thing that is predictable is the lower rates and crowds. We enjoy the cost-savings and the lack of lines at our favorite attractions.

Our son has always been able to get in the water at our resort to swim. Best swimming time in January is in the afternoon when the sun is at its warmest. The pools are heated year-round to 82 degrees. There haven't been too many January vacations (they are the ones that fall in that HOT category) when I felt warm enough to go in the water. Kids however are almost always in the pools!

January is a great time to visit. We really like near the end of the month for the least crowds! Watch out around Martin Luther King Day for increased rates and crowds.
