Hi I am planning a trip to Florida May 12-17 this year. I am interested in buying Disney tickets for me and my three kids. If I reserve a day and pay for it, do I just lose my money if we get rained out ? Or can I buy tickets that would be good any day?

Hey howdy hey, Amy, and welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you've stopped by our neck of the woods to ask us this great question about planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. My fellow Panelist pals and I are here and always happy to help! From one mom to another, I can tell you that there aren't many things more magical than spending quality time with your kiddos at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Amy, I'm thrilled that you reached out about how to plan for a rainy day at Walt Disney World Resort. My family has visited at many different times of year and seen all types of weather, and we've never failed to make great, lasting memories. Rest assured, it is very rare for Walt Disney World Resort to close due to weather. There are so many things to do and see that are in covered or indoor areas, and with some thoughtful rain gear, you should be good to go without issue. In a pinch, you can even buy a poncho in the Disney Theme Parks - Cast Members will typically display them in a convenient location if it starts to rain.

I always recommend packing a rain jacket if the forecast calls for rain, and lately I've seen people wearing waterproof shoe covers, which looks a little wild but sounds like a genius plan! My go-to outfit on rainy days includes a comfortable and supportive sandal and a pair of breezy shorts (rather than leggings and sneakers) because those items seem to dry the fastest. I learned this lesson from a dear friend of mine who wore super cute sneakers during our visit to Magic Kingdom Park on a rainy day. Her shoes got so wet that she almost bought a new pair of Disney sandals at a nearby gift shop - not a bad excuse to grab a fun souvenir!

Amy, in the event of inclement weather, you'll be notified of any delayed openings or closures at Walt Disney World Resort. Cast Members always do everything they can to keep guests safe, so if there's lightning in the area, this might mean closing a specific outdoor attraction until the storm passes. I say, wait out the storm in a dry area and keep the fun going! Rain or shine, you can still have a magical time!

I hope you and your kiddos have a fantastic visit to Walt Disney World Resort. Please be sure to check out all of our helpful videos on traveling with little ones, tweens, and teens! Make sure you're familiar with the My Disney Experience Mobile App, as well as how to navigate through Disney Genie+ Service. These things are game-changers for me, since my kids don't love a long queue. I like to make an Advance Dining Reservation for each day that we're in a theme park, so we have built-in time to relax and recharge for the rest of the day. And when we're more on-the-go, I take a moment while waiting for an attraction to place a future Mobile Food & Beverage Order on the My Disney Experience App to reduce the time I spend waiting for food.

If you're considering a stay at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, you'll enjoy an incredible amount of benefits like complimentary transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort, Early Theme Park Entry (a must-do for my family), incredible theming, and proximity to everything you need!

Please stop back by planDisney with any other vacation planning questions you have. I'd be thrilled to help you with your plans!

    See you real soon!
