Planning a trip for Feb. 2014. Trying to decide between lower cost of a value room... But heard it is far and time consuming to take bus... Or a closer resort like the contemporary/wilderness lodge.... Much pricier but located on monorail.

Hi Anna! Choosing your Disney resort is always a tough choice as they are all wonderful in their own right.  It basically comes down to economics as the Value resorts are far less per night then the Deluxe rooms.

When trying to decide understand that the Deluxe resorts will offer slightly larger rooms, more resort amenities, and location-location-location. Most of the Deluxe resorts are located within a few minutes walk or boat or monorail ride to one of the four parks. Value resorts rely solely on the complimentary bus transportation. When I mention amenities this is described as full service restaurants, possible kids care centers, club level room choices, possible full marina, and larger and slightly fancier pools.

The Value resorts will generally have several pools on site but they won't necessarily have the slides and other fun features that the Deluxe pools include. They will have great food courts but no table service restaurants.

If what I have mentioned with the Deluxe resorts sounds important for you to have when visiting and staying at Walt Disney World then definitely look into one of the great resorts. If those options are not important to you then save your money and reserve a value or moderate room. The Moderate resorts fall somewhere in between the Value and Deluxe with amenities and location.

My favorite in each category are as follows:
Deluxe: Yacht and Beach Club for the Epcot area, Polynesian for the Magic Kingdom area. Best value for this category and a great resort is the Wilderness Lodge
Moderate: Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter
    Value: Pop Century

Hope this helps you when making that final decision!
