We are planning a trip in Feb for a family of 5 my oldest two will be 13 at the time and my youngest will be 9. I'm trying to compare staying in the park and staying out of the park we dont have a huge budget and we are driving down. Any advice

    Hi Jackie!

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As a family of 7, I know what it's like to try to plan a Walt Disney World vacation on a budget for a large family.

When comparing prices, I would first suggest checking out the most economical options for your family on property which would be one of the Walt Disney World Moderate hotels that sleep 5 - like Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort or Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside.  Some of the rooms have a child-size pull down bed which allow 5 to sleep in one room. I have slept in one before, and they're actually very comfortable!

I would also recommend looking into the Family Suites at Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort. They have more space and also two bathrooms with a kitchenette! The family suites at Disney's All-Star Music Resort are more economical.

The reasons why we choose to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel are the Extra Magic Hours, the proximity to the theme parks, the complimentary transportation, earlier access to FastPass+ selections, and honestly, the Cast Members. The Cast Members are what really make our Disney vacations extra magical. The level of service can't be beat, and we will often eat breakfasts in our hotel room, take sandwiches to the park, and buy souvenirs ahead of time, so that we can make the budget work. It's nice to be completely immersed in pixie dust.
