I am planning a trip for my family this September. kids are 4, 2, & 2. How hard is the commute around the cabins at FW? how far to the lodge, pool, boat to MK? We want a place to hang while kids sleep but not if the walking and or busses are too diffic

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fort Wilderness cabins.  That said, if you plan to stay there, you should be prepared for the distance between spots of interest.  Cabins are located in various loops that are spread far and wide throughout the property.  It really isn't feasible to get around by foot; I highly recommend renting a golf cart, though it's also possible to use the internal bus system.  Distances to the pool or marina will depend upon which loop your cabin is in.  Renting a golf cart makes it really easy to zip around from point A to point B, but it does incur an added expense.  Considering the ages of your kids, I would lean towards the golf cart over the bus because you can park the golf cart right outside the door of your cabin and not have to worry about getting tired children to and from the bus stop by foot.  Hope that helps!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
