We are planning a trip with 10 family members - is it best to book as a "grand gathering" or just book 3 rooms, meal plans, etc. (one per family group)? We want to be able to use our dining plan individually too, not just as a group.

Hi Traci!  My family took a similar trip in September.  I found the Grand Gatherings Travel Planners to be a very helpful resource, especially in making dining reservations for our large party.  Also, there are at least four special events that are only available to Grand Gathering groups of 10 or more including a special breakfast in the Magic Kingdom and a fireworks cruise.  Of course, those events are subject to change, so give them a call and see what options are available during your vacation.

Oh, and don't worry about using the dining plan separately.  During our trip all 10 of us were usually seated together and the servers never had a problem dividing dining credits and using them correctly.  Have a great time!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
