Hello, we are planning a trip for the Fall. Taking my three children, 12, 11 and 2 and other family members. My 11 year old has a neuromuscular disease and uses a power chair. Any suggestions on the best hotel to stay at? There will be 7 of us.

    Hi Kerry Ann,

    Welcome to the Moms Panel!

Disney World is a great place for Guests with Disabilities to travel. Here are a couple of things to think about when you're deciding: Are you looking for accommodations where all 7 of you can stay together in a suite or villa or will you be looking for separate rooms?  If you are looking for separate rooms, how many will be staying in each room?  If you are looking for rooms for 5 or more guests, click here.

Click here for info on what special features & services are available with rooms for guests with disabilities.

You can find pictures of some of the handicapped accessible rooms on www.allears.net. Under accommodations, look for accessible room photo gallery.

When deciding which resort to book, think about which park(s) you plan to spend the most time in. If you're planning to spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom (MK), book a room in one of the resorts along the monorail line (Grand Floridian, Polynesian & the Contemporary). The monorail is handicapped accessible & makes it super easy to get to & from the MK.

If you plan to spend a lot of time in the pool, consider a resort with a zero-depth-entry pool - click here for a list. These pools also have a water wheelchair that you can use - just ask a lifeguard.

For more info on which resorts offer the best services for your 11 year old's particular needs, you can contact the Special Reservations line by calling 407-939-7807. They can also note special requests on your reservations.

Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
