I am planning a trip this fall (November or December time frame) for my son's birthday. He will be turning 10. Can you recommend a moderate hotel onsite that would be suitable for a 9 year old boy, turning 10?

    Hi Nicole,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Happy early birthday to your son!

Selecting our resort hotel is one of our favorite steps in planning our Walt Disney World vacation. If your son has ever imagined himself a pirate, I would suggest Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, one of the pirate themed rooms. He might also like The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The cabins include a kitchen.

As you go through the selection process, I also suggest that you download the My Disney Experience Mobile App. The app has a nice feature that will allow you to see transit options and estimated transit times. I would compare transit options and times from each resort to the parks you plan to visit. For example, we prefer to stay at one of the deluxe resorts with access to the resort monorail because having access to the monorail saves us valuable time in transit.

Nicole, there are several value resort hotels that might be appealing to your son. Disney's Art of Animation Resort has The Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo Family Suites all of which include two bathrooms and a kitchenette. The Big Blue Pool at this resort would be my absolute favorite if I were 10-years old!

Finally, do not forget to celebrate that birthday! The Mickey Mouse Cakes from Walt Disney World Resort can be delivered to participating restaurants.

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
    Donyell
