I am planning a trip for my entire family and it will exceed my points available. How do i find out how much it is to purchase additional points?

Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Diana!

You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney.  Aren't big family vacations the best?  There's nothing I love more than visiting Walt Disney World Resort when the whole family tags along –– sure, it's chaotic and crazy sometimes, but my favorite Disney memories are the ones we make when we're all together. I'm so excited to hear that your family will be experiencing all the magic of The World's Most Magical Celebration together this fall!

Great news –– Disney Vacation Club Members who need a few extra Points have the option to purchase up to 24 one-time-use Vacation Points every Use Year.  These Points can be used to book reservations in the 7-month booking window (they aren't available to use for the 11-month Home Resort priority window) and expire at the end of your Use Year, just like your annual Vacation Points allotment. Once these Points have been added to your account, you can use them to book reservations online or over the phone, but they cannot be banked, borrowed, or transferred.  Currently, you can purchase one-time-use points at a rate of $19 per point, which includes tax, by calling Member Services at (800) 800-9800.

If you need more than 24 Points, here's what I would suggest.  First, remember that you can borrow Vacation Points from your upcoming Use Year, if you haven't already done so (currently, only 50 percent of your upcoming Points are available to borrow).  This can be done at the time of booking and these Points can be used along with one-time-use Points and your annual yearly Points allotment.  If you still don't have enough Points after borrowing, you might try booking a different configuration of rooms.  For instance, you may be able to book two 2-Bedroom Villas (which would sleep up to 18) people for fewer Points than a 3-Bedroom Villa.  When you arrive at the Resort, you can even request rooms next to each other or close together –– while this isn't guaranteed, Cast Members work really hard to make magic for their Guests and they can typically accommodate these requests.  Finally, you might consider booking the additional rooms you need without using Vacation Points –– Disney Vacation Club often has discounted rooms available for Members who choose to book a cash reservation.  You can give Member Services a call to find out which Resorts are currently offering Members a discounted rate.

Thanks for visiting planDisney with your question, Diana!  I hope your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation is filled with pixie dust from beginning to end!
