I'm always leery of answering "is it worth it" questions because each family is so very different and what one family values might be entirely lost on another. That said, I am happy to report that my family of 6 (kids aged 15, 11, 9 and 3 plus my daughter's 14 y/o BFF) had the opportunity to experience the
Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage last October and we had an absolutely fabulous time. You can read all about what the event includes by clicking on the link I provided above.
My kids were thrilled with the welcome reception that took place at Disney's Contemporary Resort. There, we had the chance to meet and greet Capt. Hook and Mr. Smee; I got some great photos! Next, we headed down to the marina where we boarded our boats and met 'Patch,' our pirate host. He was the friendliest variety of pirate (very un-Capt. Hook'ish) and he delighted us with his swashbuckling lingo and Disney trivia. Guests who were celebrating on board our vessel were treated to some special attention. Once we dropped anchor, we were presented with a great view of both the Electrical Water Pageant and the Magic Kingdom fireworks. The music was 'piped' onto our boat so that we didn't miss a single aspect of the experience. As we headed back, Patch surprised the children on board by awarding them prizes when they correctly answered (which they always eventually did!) Disney-related trivia questions. And to top off the evening, we were greeted at the marina by a certain boy who refuses to grow up!
Like I said, the 'value' of such an experience is in the eye of the beholder (or purse-string controller as the case may be), but I can attest to the fun to be had and the magical memories that can be made should you give it a go and set sail on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage!
