Planning a trip at the end of Oct. Our group includes a 2 y/o, a 14y/, 8 adults (incl. 3 "boys" in college). have stayed in POR last several trips but considering different mod. Which would you recommend? We prefer Qn beds, will have QSD plan

Hi Shelley! Sounds like a fun group and sounds like you will need two to three rooms since you will have 8 adults.

Port Orleans is a favorite among the moderate resorts with the guests but one of my choices is Coronado Springs resort. This was the first moderate to have queen beds in all the guest rooms due to it also being a convention resort. Some find that as a turn off but in reality I find many benefits to it. Being a convention location you will find amenities that aren't found at any other moderate locations such as health club, business office, full service restaurant, etc.  During the day many convention guests staying there are busy in the meetings and conferences and then in the evening they are busy with pre planned activities. The convention area is set aside from the resort rooms and they won't affect you during the stay. Since they have such pre set plans they often are not using the resort facilities such as the pools making them far more quiet then other resorts.

Since you have a large group you should also look at some of the Villa choices as they can be more financially feasible since more can share one unit. These will come with kitchens and laundry facilities which are definitely nice amenities. Since one member of your traveling party is a young child this would also give you separate rooms for napping while others enjoy movies etc.  Check out Old Key West and Saratoga Springs as possibilities. They have anything from studios to two bedroom units.
