I am planning a trip to either Disney World or Disneyland, my young son has autism. He can wait in lines, but I fear he won't want to ride anything and my daughter and I will want to. Is the rider swap available on all the rides for families with autism?

    Hi, Erica!

I'm so excited to hear that you're planning a Disney Parks vacation!

I can totally understand your concern of not wanting to miss riding Attractions with your daughter. The folks at Disney have made things easy for families with Guests who would rather not ride certain Attractions. The Rider Switch is available on select Attractions. Here is a list of Rider Switch Attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as a detailed explanation on how to use the service. My fellow Moms Panelist, Courtney B. answers a question here on how the Rider Switch works at the Disneyland Resort.

If you think that your little guy might not want to ride Attractions that do not offer the Rider Switch, please stop by Guest Relations and explain to the Cast Member that you and your daughter really want to ride but your son may not. They may deem it necessary to issue a Disability Access Service [DAS] Card that will specify this accommodation. Please take a look at this article about this new DAS Card on the Disney Parks Blog. There is also a DAS Card Fact Sheet available that will give you more insight on how the card works.

I really hope this information helps, Erica, and I encourage you to visit us again if we can help with any other questions you have!

Wishing you Pixie Dusted vacation planning!
