We are planning our trip for early 2011. When can we or should we booked our reservations?

You can book your Disney vacation as far out as 499 days!  But whether you should, just depends.

If you want to ensure that you get put at the front of the list for room requests, the earlier you make your reservation, the better. If you're looking for discounts, Disney doesn't usually start posting discounts for rooms this far out, but don't let that stop you from booking this far out.

If you're booking with a Disney-certified Travel Planner, I say, the earlier you make your reservations, the better. Most will track discounts as they come up and let you know if your dates qualify for any newly-released discounts. I know of several friends who booked with Disney Planners and received refunds because of their diligent travel agent. It usually doesn't cost you any more to book with one.

If you are going to book your vacation on your own, and book early, you may miss out on those discounts if you're not diligent about watching for specials as they come up throughout the year. My suggestion is to subscribe to a newsletter like the one at or make it a habit to check out the Disney website under its "specials" category on a regular basis, about once a week or two.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
