Planning a trip in early May with grandchildren ages 8 and twins 6 and their parents. Lots of choices on lodging and need a few recommendations. Looking a moderate lodging and our kids love the water. Should we do a villa or two separate rooms? Thanks.

    Hi Linda,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting to plan a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort with your grandchildren. There is an award for your bravery - grandparent of the year!

Depending on the size of your group, I suggest a villa. My parents went with us on our first visit with our twin girls (they were 5-years old) and we stayed at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa in a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath villa. The 2 Bedroom villas sleep up to eight adults. The Treehouse villas sleep up to nine adults. I loved having access to the full kitchen and the washer/dryer.

There are other deluxe resort and deluxe villa hotels that are closer to the parks. We prefer resort hotels with access to the resort monorail. Given the ages of your grandchildren, it would be nice to stay close to Magic Kingdom. Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of our favorite resorts. Our girls also love Disney's Polynesian Village Resort but I have a sneaky suspicion their affection is mostly towards the pool area. From Disney's Contemporary Resort, you can actually walk to Magic Kingdom. Since we stay close to the parks, we typically leave the parks by early afternoon and go back to the resort to enjoy the pool or take a nap.

Linda, if you do two separate rooms, there is no guarantee that your rooms will be near each other at the resort. So, start looking at the deluxe and deluxe resort hotels!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
