Planning a trip early Dec - 8 of us - me, hubby, 2 boys, 6 & 3yrs, grandparents. Looking at POR or POFQ, due to budget. Would Contemp. be worth the extra money? Our first trip to Disney and I want it to be special for the entire extended family

Hi, Kate! First of all, congratulations on your first vacation to WDW.  I get goosebumps thinking of what you're experiencing and going to experience!

Now I feel like I need to give you full disclosure here...I'm a huge fan of The Contemporary.  It's the first resort that I stayed in on my first trip in 1976, and I have stayed there more times than any other resort.  I love it because a monorail passes right through the lobby!  It amazes me every time I see it!

The Contemporary also houses some of the best dining at WDW.  Chef Mickey's is a wonderful buffet and character experience for the whole family, and The California Grill (which sits atop The Contemporary) is regularly acclaimed as one of the best restaurants in Florida...not just WDW!

The views from The Contemporary of either the Magic Kingdom (and the fireworks!) or of Bay Lake and the Electrical Water Pageant add so much to the experience.  Plus, The Contemporary is walking distance to the Magic Kingdom...yes, you read that right...walking distance!  It's also the first monorail stop on the ride back when you're the most tired.

My husband will tell you that POR and POFQ are great values and wonderful resorts...which they are!  He'll also tell you that The Contemporary is very sleek and modern in its design and theme...and I would agree that it's not whimsical like some of the other resorts.

Yet, if I were you, I would scour the resources to find deals and offers which would make sense for my traveling party to book at The Contemporary.  Of course, any stay at WDW is going to be special, but for something extra special, you really can't beat The Contemporary!  Let me know if you have more questions.  Meanwhile, have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
