    planning 3rd trip to DW-have stayed at POR & POFQ. Considering AKL or WL for next trip. concerned about long bus trips to & from AKL. any advice on AKL vs. WL overall and considering transportation? party of 7-4 adults, 3 boys 10,7,5-will do 2 rm

    Congratulations on the planning of your family's next Walt Disney World vacation!

    Having stayed at both Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter & Riverside myself, as well as Animal Kingdom Lodge and most recently Wilderness Lodge (and in that order), I'd be happy to give you my take on it based on our family's experiences.

    While I absolutely LOVE the scenery at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we did find it to be more 'isolated' and definitely a bit of a hike where transportation is concerned and with impatient kids wanting to get to Magic Kingdom! ;) It's a fabulous resort and one we have already planned to stay at again now that the kids are a few years older and more patient!

    We tried Wilderness Lodge just this past summer and absolutely fell in love with it immediately! I can see why Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a favourite with many families. The boat transportation over to Magic Kingdom is fun, quick and frequent. My 10 year old son loved the lodge, the pool area and roasting marshmallows in the evening before or during a movie under the stars. We opted for a bunk bed room with a courtyard view and it was perfect! The view was just beautiful. Another thing I quickly fell in love with about Wilderness Lodge is the set up of the lodge itself. The walks to the elevators, bus depot, dining, pool and boat dock are all very reasonable - nothing was too far or difficult to get to.

    I'd definitely recommend Wilderness Lodge for your next trip, and perhaps Animal Kingdom Lodge for the one after that ...
