We are planning a trip to DW and staying in a villa at the Animal Kingdom. I know they have a washer/dryer, but do I need to bring laundry detergent? Thanks,

    Hi Karen,

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is such a beautiful resort.  Both the Jambo House and Kidani Village areas are absolutely lovely.

One of my favorite amenities at a one-bedroom or larger Disney Vacation Club villa is the washer and dryer in the villa.  It allows you to pack less clothes and avoid bringing more luggage.  You can save on luggage fees if you are flying, and save on trunk space if you are driving.

When you arrive at your villa, there will be a starter pack of laundry detergent in your villa good for one use.  This has typically been Tide brand powder.  If you need more detergent, it is available by request from housekeeping.  There may be a small additional fee for extra laundry detergent.

I often bring detergent with me from home.  A really convenient way to do this is to take Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets, which include detergent, fabric softener, and a dryer sheet all in one flat sheet!  Unfortunately these have been discontinued by the manufacturer; however, if you search for them online you can still find some websites selling them.  I also suggest taking the liquid laundry packs such as All Mighty Pacs.  These small, single-use pods of detergent are easy just to pop in the washer.  I do recommend that if you are packing these to pack them in a strong, sealed plastic container so that they don't get squished and break in your luggage!

I hope that this information helps, Karen.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
