    HI. We are planning a trip to DW later this year. To help with planning, can anyone tell me approximate travel times between the different parks? And what time the different modes of transportation depart and pickup at? thanks

    HI Paul!

    All of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels offer bus service to various destinations, but sometimes have other more exotic modes of transportation as well. For example, the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian are on the monorail line which provides easy access to the Magic Kingdom; it is also possible to get from those resorts to Epcot by transferring to a different monorail.

    The Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk, Swan, and Dolphin have boat service to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.  The Wilderness Lodge has boat service to the Magic Kingdom, and Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, and Saratoga Springs has boat service to Downtown Disney.

    When traveling on Disney Transportation, I generally allow between 30 and 45 minutes to get from one location to another.  That average needs to be modified by where you are, where you are trying to go to, and the mode of transportation. For example, the monorail from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom is about a 5 to 15 minute trip depending on how long you have to wait for the monorail to pick you up in the first place; it's less than 5 minutes if you board it just as the doors are closing!

    Based on my experiences, the resort monorail generally starts running at 7:00 am and the buses start running about 1 hour before the particular theme park opens for the day. Generally, buses come between every 15 and 20 minutes. In my opinion, it's very easy to get from a theme park or a resort hotel to a theme park or Downtown Disney using Disney Transportation. The difficult thing is getting from one resort hotel to another resort hotel.  With the exception of a few, such as the monorail resorts and those connected by boat service, there is no direction connection. In those cases you would have to first take a bus to a central point, such as a theme park or Downtown Disney, and then transfer to another bus going to the resort hotel you are trying to get to.
