Planning a trip to DW in June. Need to have a credit card on file with resort. Is it possible to have a substantial Disney gift card on file instead of credit card?

Hi, Susan! So nice to see you again at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

How exciting that you will soon be in the place where The Magic is Endless, Walt Disney World Resort! Unfortunately, in order to make a Disney Resort hotel reservation, you can use a valid credit card or a Disney Gift card to make your initial deposit! However, based on the phrasing of your question, I believe you mean that you need to have a valid credit card on your file to make charges on your MagicBand? This is not required, but it certainly is convenient! Unfortunately, you cannot use a Disney Gift Card to make charges to your Disney Resort hotel room via your MagicBand.

Another possibility, based on your question is that you require a valid credit card to book a Disney Dining Reservation. Again, unfortunately, there is no alternative to this and it cannot be done with a Disney Gift Card. I can, however, tell you from personal experience, that I HAVE used a prepaid travel credit card to make Disney Dining Reservations, as well as link it to my MagicBand to make charges. That being said, I have heard that other Guests tried using a prepaid credit card for the same purposes and were not successful.

I hope I am properly understanding and answering your question. Please come back again real soon!

    Happy planning,
