We are planning on a trip to DW in June 2011. We have a large family with 2 adults and 4 kids 8,6,5,2 years of age. I was wondering what would be a good place to stay in the moderate category and what parks would be best so everyone can have fun. Thanks

    Hi Wendy!
How wonderful that the 6 of you will soon be making memories at Walt Disney World! As for accommodations, the moderate resorts are a great way to stretch your budget while still getting to enjoy the magic and benefits of staying at a Disney property. Although I feel each of the "moderates" has their individual pros and cons, I feel most strongly about staying at Port Orleans Riverside. The resort setting is magnificent!! In addition, Ol' Man Island is one of the better resort swimming pools with a decent slide and a refreshing waterfall. I also love the food court with at least 4-5 separate offerings at every meal. Also, Boatwright's Dining Hall is a wonderful sit down, full service restaurant located right next to the food court. Plus, don't forget to check out YeeHaw Bob in the lounge on select nights if he is playing. The kids will LOVE it (and so will you). There are also plenty of recreation options including boat rentals, fishing, horse-drawn carriage rides, plus, Port Orleans Riverside is one of the few resorts where you can even take a nice boat cruise to Downtown Disney for dinner, shopping or just to walk around a bit. I feel this resort has everything that you could want or need, and it is my absolute favorite moderate hotel property.
As for the parks, your first choice should be Magic Kingdom!! Regardless of kids' ages, this is the park that started it all, and it has the most to do. I recommend at least 2 full days of your trip here. Second in line should be Disney's Hollywood Studios, for at least one full day. Animal Kingdom should be third for at least one full day. EPCOT, to me, is a "maybe" for this age group, although your kids may love it. Give it a try if there's time, but only after the other three parks.See what the kids like best, and adjust accordingly. I hope this helps, and I wish you a Magical vacation!! :)
