Hello, we are planning a trip during spring break, do we risk not having a fast pass first thing in the morning or hope we walk on to an attraction at rope drop? Thanks!

Hi Teresa!  Sounds like you are getting ready to make your FastPass+ reservations!  That is always my favorite part of planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, because it means my trip is right around the corner.

FastPass+ is a wonderful complimentary service allowing guests to skip the standby line at many attractions.  You will find many different strategies for utilizing the FastPass+ system to the fullest.  My family has visited Walt Disney World Resort at all times of year, including spring break and holidays such as New Year's Eve.  I never plan my FastPass+ reservations for first thing in the morning.  I like to arrive early, and find that at rope drop, all but the most popular attractions will have little to no wait for the first hour or so after the park opens.  I plan my FastPass+ reservations to begin mid to late morning, so that I have used my third advance FastPass+ by early afternoon.  There usually seems to be some availability at that time for making additional FastPass+ reservations.

Of course, other people employ other strategies.  I am not declaring mine the best, but it works for me.

I hope that helps!  Please feel free to visit us again if you have additional questions.  Don't forget to keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements regarding special events or limited-time offerings that may be happening during your visit.
