Hey there, hi there, ho there, Spencer! You're as welcome as can be here at
planDisney. Thank you so much for sending us your question. It sounds like you’re planning a very special trip with family and friends, and I love that you’re already working through the details of your dining reservations. It’s always a smart move to get that squared away early!
Now, let’s talk about how
dining reservations work in this situation. Since one of the children in your group is under 2, you don’t need to create a My Disney account for them. Children under 3 are not charged for park admission or dining, but they do still count toward the total number of Guests at your table. This is very important for safety and fire code reasons, so you’ll want to make sure your reservation reflects seven Guests total.
Here’s where it gets easy! You don’t actually need every person in your party to be named on the dining reservation. In fact, dining reservations can be made with only the name of the Guest booking it, as long as that person is present to check in at the restaurant. So, if you’re running into trouble in the system when trying to share the reservation across everyone’s accounts, don’t stress. What you can do is simply link one of the adults from the other family to your reservation. That way, the two households are connected in the system, but you’re not required to add every single name.
Another option is to leave the reservation exactly as it is with only your name on it, so long as the total Guest count is correct. At check-in, the Cast Member will see the reservation for seven, and they’ll seat your group accordingly, no issues at all.
Spencer, I know the system can sometimes make this part feel more complicated than it is, but I hope this clears things up and gives you confidence moving forward. You’ll be just fine booking for seven, with or without every individual linked. And of course, if you need help modifying your reservation,
a Cast Member on the phone can always walk you through it.
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
