We are planning a trip to Disney's Yacht Club with our three teenagers in mid December. This is part of their Christmas present and we wanted to make it very special. Do you have any tips and would you reccommend upgrading to a concierge level room?

Hi, Eydie! If you're looking for "special", then the Regatta Club (concierge level at the Yacht Club) is the way to go! For the extra expense, you get personal service in the form of a private concierge available for check-in and for making reservations. Plus, you have access to the lounge which daily provides a continental breakfast, mid-day snacks, wine and cheese in the late afternoon and cordials and dessert in the evenings.

With all that said, I personally think that a concierge-level splurge should be saved for an adults-only special occasion. I would rather spend the extra money on more space or an extra bathroom when traveling with teenagers. Plus, the amenities are really treats and conveniences only adults can fully appreciate (great service, coffee and alcohol, plush robes, etc.). I know that my teenagers may initially say "Wow!," but then, rush off to the pool or parks!

The Yacht & Beach Clubs are tops for my teens, and I think your vacation is going to be a wonderful and memorable experience for yours. The pool is a happening place, and The Boardwalk and Epcot are a short walk away. Cell phones come in handy when traveling with big kids like yours and mine...just remind them to keep them charged at night. The parks are great places for them to try out a little freedom. So, we often will give them a few hours to themselves with meet up times/locations. Then, we will gather back together for a sit-down meal to recount the experiences we've had.

Enjoy this special time as a family.  I've finally realized that my teens won't be around forever and to make precious memories together as a family is more important now than ever. Have a wonderful day, a blessed Christmas and a magical vacation!
