I am planning a trip to Disneyland next year and I plan to get engaged to my girlfriend there. Is it possible to reserve the Rose Court Gardens for an hour to propose to someone? If not what are some other mostly private areas you would recommend?

Hello Bryan, and welcome to planDisney. I like the way you're thinking! The Disneyland Resort is the perfect setting for a fairytale moment as important as proposing.

Bryan, the Rose Court Garden at the Disneyland Hotel is one of the venues available for special events coordinated by Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. If you're looking for an extra special proposal, you can reach out to them and see what options may be available.

I have some other ideas for you to consider as well, Bryan:

    • Snow White’s Grotto is an enchanting little spot to the side of Sleeping Beauty Castle. While not totally private, it tends to be a little quieter than the castle itself. There's a tranquil waterfall with sculptures and a wishing well.
    • Head to the Disneyland Railroad station on Main Street, U.S.A. At the top of the stairs, there are benches, and it's usually not very busy as long as there isn't a parade or other entertainment happening. I love this area because it overlooks Town Square, and you can see Sleeping Beauty Castle in the distance.
    • The World of Color Dessert Party is a memorable experience – you'd be seated at your own table with a great view of the show and an assortment of tasty desserts. While it's not totally private, you do have your own space. World of Color Happiness! has the most beautiful ending sequence, featuring towering fountains, a rainbow of colors, and an amazing song. I can envision a perfect proposal.
    • Tom Sawyer Island could be an interesting spot – once you arrive by raft, you'll notice winding paths, lots of trees, panoramic views, and a more relaxed pace. You can walk to the edge of the island, take a seat at a bench, and pull out the ring!
    • You can't go wrong with proposing over a nice meal, either. Consider making reservations at a table-service restaurant. Lamplight Lounge in California Adventure has panoramic views of Paradise Bay, and the atmosphere of Blue Bayou in Disneyland can't be beat.
    • I have one more idea! Head to Mickey Mouse's house in Toontown. You'll end up in his Movie Barn, where you'll have a chance to meet him in a somewhat private area. There is generally a Disney PhotoPass photographer there as well, and they can help you capture the moment. Just time the proposal for when you are all taking a photo with Mickey.
After you pop the question, pick up a few complimentary “Happily Ever After” buttons at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. or a merchandise location. There are also bride and groom Disney ears that you can purchase in the park, which would be cute to wear in photos.

Bryan, pixie dust is in the air! I hope everything comes together as perfectly as a fairytale ending. Please reach out if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help here at planDisney.

Wishing you and your family happiness,
    Kriss
