I am planning a trip to Disneyland with myself, my husband, my mom, and my 4 kids (8,4, and twin 2 years olds) my 4 year old has level two ASD and I plan to try to get the DAS. How would this work with rider swap and rides she can't do sensory wise.

    Hi Janie,

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for trusting us with your vacation planning questions. Planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort is especially important when traveling with little ones—particularly if they have unique needs to help them access all the magic. The Rider Switch service is a wonderful way to ensure that everyone in your party can have a magical time at the parks.

Rider Switch is available at most attractions throughout the Disneyland Resort. When you arrive at the ride, simply let the greeting Cast Member know you'd like to use the service. Your entire party will need to be present, as the Cast Member will scan the tickets of those riding in the second group. Group 1 will wait in the regular queue and enjoy the attraction first. Once they return, Group 2 will typically be directed to enter through the Lightning Lane (or an alternate entrance, depending on the ride).

I truly appreciate this service because it allows our little ones to skip rides they’re not quite ready for—without anyone missing out on the fun. I’ve used it many times with my own little one, and it lets me enjoy the thrills while still tending to their comfort. One helpful tip: if the first group is waiting in a longer line, I use that time to grab a snack or let my little one explore nearby areas like Redwood Creek Challenge Trail or CenTOONial Park. There's no need to wait right by the queue.

I hope you’ll be able to join us at the parks for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration! Be sure to check out the guide on the Disney Parks Blog to explore all the magical details we know so far. You might find something that delights your kids—or brings out your own inner child! Personally, I’m excited for the new World of Color show, "World of Color – Happiness!" It will feature music from Turning Red, A Goofy Movie, Tangled, and Encanto. My favorites!

You can stay up-to-date with all the latest Disneyland magic by following them on Instagram.

Janie, I hope you are satisfied with your care. If you have any more questions, need help planning, or would like a few extra tips, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists—we’d be happy to assist.

With warmest wishes and magical support,
