We are planning a trip to Disneyland in Mid-August. Website says to make reservation due to reduced capacity. 1. What is the reduced capacity of park relative to full capacity. 2. Does reduced capacity mean we can likely expect shorter ride wait times?

Hi ya, Robert and welcome to planDisney. I don’t know about you, but it has been a while since I’ve visited the Disneyland Resort. Now that everyone is welcomed to return, I can’t wait to start planning for my return. In the meantime. I’ll be more than happy to help plan for your trip.

The Theme Park Reservation system is used to help monitor the capacity at the Theme Parks. Although there has been no official announcement sharing the exact capacity, my fellow Panelist, Tiffanie, shares that it is much less than past summers. My family visited the Walt Disney World Resort in April and we did notice our attraction wait times to be slightly less than what we we’ve been used to for that time of year. I’m sure that you will also notice a difference, if August is your traditional time of year to visit.

I do recommend using the mobile app as a way to check current wait times. Although each day can be a little different, it is a good practice to see what the average wait times for attractions are. I usually do this a week before my visit, to help give me a general idea of what the crowds may be like.

Robert, I hope this helps give you an idea of what to expect. I always like to say a Disney day is better than any other day. I’d take a day waiting for my favorite attraction or enjoying a Mickey-shaped treat anytime! So please enjoy both for me and if you have any other questions, you know where to find us.
