We are planning a trip to Disneyland (our first!) for 11/11-11/16. Will the parks be decorated for the holidays by then? How will the crowds be?

    Hi, Kathy!

November can be a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort because the entertainment schedule is in full swing and holiday decorations and other seasonal extras begin appearing around the resort. The holiday decor is gradually added at night when the parks are closed and is largely complete by mid-November (holiday season offerings at the resort officially began on Nov. 12 last year), so you should be able to enjoy the decorations, special treats and entertainment during your visit.

The kickoff of the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort will bring an influx of visitors, although peak winter crowds occur around Thanksgiving week and in December as Christmas approaches. A great first step would be to browse at home so you can create a family wish list of attractions and entertainment. Be sure to utilize Disney’s FASTPASS service when available to optimize your time in the parks! Check out the interactive attractions list online—it can be sorted by height requirement, thrill level, or interest group.

Your family won’t want to miss the Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a small world” Holiday attractions, and the "Believe...In Holiday Magic" fireworks show’s finale of snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A. is a must-see. On the “Holiday Time at Disneyland” Tour, Guests can hear holiday tales from Disneyland Park history, experience seasonal attractions and watch “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” from a reserved viewing area while enjoying a delicious treat and warm beverage. Please call (714) 781-TOUR (8687) to reserve spots up to one month in advance.

I hope this helps, Kathy, and that you enjoy a perfectly pixie-dusted first visit to the Disneyland Resort! Please write back with any other questions you may have as your planning continues.

    Wishing you magic,
