Hi! I am planning a trip to Disney World next May with my family. I was wondering if you could help me figure out when is the best time to start booking our vacation? Thanks! Disney Fan from Texas

Hello Jennifer!  How exciting it is planning a family Walt Disney World vacation.  For me, planning is half of the fun.

I suggest keeping an eye on the Special Offers page of the Walt Disney World website later this summer and into the fall for Spring Promotions.  I like booking when a promotion is being offered because it is typically a good savings!  I usually book my vacations at least 8 months in advance.  Dining reservations open up for booking 180 days in advance from your check in day and the good restaurants fill up fast.  If you know you want to dine at some character meals or other sit down restaurants, I highly suggest you have plan of what park you want to visit which day and where you are going to have your sit down meal.  That way when your 180 day mark rolls around, you can be on the phone (407-WDW-DINE) right at 7 a.m. when the phone lines open to make your dining reservations.  That is really the most time sensitive part about booking a Walt Disney World vacation.

May is a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World, I know you are going to have a great time.  If you have any other questions while you are planning your Walt Disney World vacation, please feel free to reach out to me.  Have a magical day!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
