We’re planning a trip to Disney world in May of 2021,we’re looking at staying at Art of Imagination,we will need four rooms, what steps should we take to ensure a great visit, also we are looking to use the Disney dinning plan.

    Hi James,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

If you have not done so already, review the currently available vacation packages with the resort hotel, theme park tickets, and one of the Disney Dining Plans. I always check pricing for the year prior to our visit so that I can get a sense of how much money we need to save for our trip. My family prefers either the Disney Dining Plan or the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. When our girls were younger, we did the Disney Dining Plan and used our quick-service meal entitlements for lunch and our table-service meal entitlements for dinner. We brought breakfast snacks with us to eat in the room before heading out to the parks.

We take advantage of the benefits for Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests. We have our favorite restaurants so we always make advanced dining reservations at those as soon as our 180-day window opens. Prior to making those reservations, I check the park hours for the dates of our visit (if they are not available yet, I review the hours that are available for the weeks prior to our visit to get a sense of what they might be during our visit and then I double-check those hours when they are available). To make those advanced dining reservations 180 days prior to our visit means that, if we are doing 1 Park Per Day Tickets, we determine which parks we are visiting on each day of our trip at that 180-day mark. When making those advanced dining reservations, remember that Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's Royal Table are quite popular. We make advanced dining reservations there for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Also, we do at least one dining reservation at California Grill or 'Ohana during the time of the Happily Ever Fireworks show. The views of Magic Kingdom from California Grill are quite lovely!

Once you reserve your vacation package, be sure to create a My Disney Experience Account and connect your reservation to that account. When making your dining reservations, those reservations will then link to your My Disney Experience Account so that you can track, modify, or cancel them. At 60 days prior to your trip, make your FastPass+ selections for rides and attractions. I strongly encourage you to make them as soon as the system opens on day 60 since selections are limited. Rides like Avatar Flight of Passage, Slinky Dog Dash, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train are always our priority. If times are available for those rides, reserve them, even if those times are not optimal and then modify a dining reservation if necessary.

Finally, my family always likes to do at least one special tour or dining event so we check the Enchanting Extras Collection to see what might fit within our budget. Our girls loved getting to see how cast members care for the rhinos on the Up Close with Rhinos tour.

James, I also suggest keeping an eye on the Special Offers. Budgeting the magic is one of my main priorities!

    Magic and memories,
