We're planning a trip to Disney World May 27 - June 2 to celebrate my husband's 50th b-day. We will have our 4 children with us (ages 21, 19,18, and 7). Any suggestions on how to celebrate w/out breaking our bank? This trip is a surprise for him.

    Hi Vivian,

What a wonderful place to celebrate a 50th (or any) birthday!  How wonderful that it will be a surprise!  I'm guessing you won't need to do much "extra" to make it "extra" special.   I'd recommend starting your celebratory trip by ensuring that your hubby picks up a free "birthday button" at Guest Relations at whichever park you visit first.  Be sure that he wears it proudly during your trip!  I'd also mention the fact that you are celebrating a special event when you book your advanced dining reservations and again when you check-in at the front of each venue.  Many locations will do something small, but special to celebrate along with you (a cupcake with a candle, etc.)  When my family celebrates a birthday, we generally make one "special" advanced dining reservations at either a character meal location, or signature dining venue, and have a cake brought to the table.  The folks at Disney's Cake Hotline can help you pick the perfect confectionary creation for your budget to be delivered to your table.  To order a cake, call 407-827-2253 and a cast member will be glad to assist you.

I hope your husband has a magical birthday and that you all have a fantastic vacation!
