We are planning a trip to Disney World in May 2013. There will be 4 adults 18+ and 1 seventeen year old. We are on a budget of $5,000-$5,500. Is it possible?

Hi Jacqueline! Most Disney travelers are vacationing there on a budget. Some larger then others but none the less still a budget.

Your first job will be to decide on a resort. You basically are traveling with five adults for Disney purposes so you have to check out those that will allow five to a room. I personally feel you would be better off with two rooms that connect which would give you four beds and two bathrooms. Sometimes the beds in some of the resorts for five are geared more for younger children. That would have to be a decision you would want to make knowing your family.

You can often get a Free Dining special to go with your resort reservation but you must do this through Disney. That will give you many options for food through-out the stay and you can spend more for fancier dining or just basic for quick service locations.

The third big aspect to a trip is the decision about park tickets. To save money just get the one park per day tickets and don't spend the extra money for the Park Hopper option unless you find you can.  I also suggest you don't use a park ticket for the first day when you arrive as that is usually a shortened time. The water parks are a great way to spend a day outside of the major parks and the cost for those tickets are less.

Head to the Disney website and experiment with some resort, dining, and ticket options to see the final figure. Anything is possible but it will be determined on where you want to stay, how long, and how fancy you wish the trip to be. Once you get that quote from the on line work you can also head to someplace like AAA to see if they can do a better package for your family.  Don't forget you must get there as well and if you go via air those prices fluctuate constantly. Good luck and let us know when we can help with the details.
