Planning trip to Disney World this coming fall / winter with my almost 2 year old son. What are the best activities for this age group? Are there specific tips to make the most out of a trip with a child this age? Should I bring my own stroller or rent?

    Hiya Lauren,

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your question! I’m so excited to hear you’re planning a magical adventure with your little Mouseketeer. As a mom of two princesses who have been visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth since they were in onesies, I can tell you—there’s no age too young to start making core memories at Walt Disney World!

So, let’s jump right in! First, there is so much your almost two-year-old will be able to do. Disney World is incredibly toddler-friendly, from parades, character meet and greets, and dozens of rides and attractions requiring no height, perfect for pint-sized explorers. Here is a list of some of our family's favorite toddler-friendly attractions:

    • In Magic Kingdom, Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a must—because every kid deserves to fly! Right nearby, Pirates of the Caribbean is a surprisingly big hit with my toddler, who can’t get enough of the swashbuckling adventure.
    • At Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris is a magical experience where little ones can spot real giraffes, elephants, and our family’s favorite—the okapi.
    • At Hollywood Studios, the giggles continue with Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and Toy Story Mania, both colorful and fun-filled options that always bring big smiles.
    • And over at EPCOT, don’t miss Spaceship Earth—our toddler loves riding through history inside the iconic geosphere.
Here are a few mom-approved tips from one Disney mama to another:

First, snacks are your best friend – You’re more than welcome to bring your own food and drinks into the parks. I always pack a stash of snacks, refillable water bottles, and a reusable straw (the paper ones are magical for the planet, but not always toddler-durable).

Second, Baby Care Centers – total lifesavers! These are tucked into each park and offer air-conditioned changing areas, nursing rooms with rocking chairs, and even highchairs for feeding time. You’ll find them easily on the My Disney Experience app.

Next, be sure to take breaks like a pro – whether it’s heading back for a nap or recharging over a character meal (hi, Mickey waffles!), breaks are essential for happy littles—and parents too.

When it comes to stroller choices, you can absolutely bring your own stroller, which is great for nap time and park exits. But Disney’s stroller rentals are also super convenient and park-friendly if you want to pack lighter.

Last, Memory Maker is a must! Those magical moments happen fast—make sure you're in the photos, too! From hugs with Mickey to family photos in front of Cinderella’s castle, you’ll treasure having them all captured.

Lauren, your trip will be pure pixie dust and unforgettable moments. If you have any more questions as you prepare for your magical adventure, we’re always here to help.

    See ya real soon!
