Hi Diane! It is exciting to hear that you will be coming and staying at my favorite place of all, the
Fort Wilderness Resort. We also bring our motor coach and our dogs and stay for a while to enjoy the great Walt Disney World.
Fort Wilderness is the only resort on property that allows its guests to come with their pets but this is only for the RV campsites. Tent campers and cabin guests are not allowed to bring animals with them. If you have an RV you are more then welcome to keep your dog in your RV while you are away in the parks during the day. Of course this is only if your dog is comfortable being alone and would not become upset or bark the entire time. They must remain inside the RV while you are gone.
If you need a place to watch the dog during the day there is the
Best Friends Pet Care facility located on property just five minutes down the road from Fort Wilderness. They offer daily day care or over night boarding but reservations are a must for any type of service you are wishing for during your stay. We have used this location many times for our pets and they love going there. The staff is wonderful and the care even better.
I have also heard that some guests get daily dog sitters to come and let their animals out once or twice a day while they are gone. We have not used any service such as this but apparently there are some businesses in the area that offer it.
