I am planning a trip to Disney for my son for his fifth birthday and I was wondering if Disney does anything special for birthdays like the kid gets in free or they get a discount somewhere or something along those lines

Hello and welcome to the Moms Panel!

How exciting that your son will be celebrating his 5th birthday at Walt Disney World!  Does it get any better than that?  I think not, so we had better get started.

Unfortunately, there are no discounts or getting into any of the parks free of charge.  However, should you decide to dine at any of the Disney Dining Restaurants, simply let your Cast Member know that you are celebrating a special birthday and they will make some MAGIC happen.  In the past, Cast Members have provided my boys with a free birthday cupcake.  There are times when they will sprinkle some confetti on your table or you may also be given a birthday card signed by characters.  You never know. Just don't forget to pick-up your complimentary birthday button at any Guest Service location which is located in all four parks.  Throughout the day, your son will receive special "shout-outs" from Cast Members.  It really is fun!

Thank you so much for visiting the Moms Panel.  Please join us again real soon should any new questions or concerns pop-up.  We are always ready to offer some great tips and advice.  May your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation be filled with many new and MAGICAL memories.
