Hi there, Terry! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
First of all, I want to say a big thank you to your son for his service. I think it's wonderful that your family will be able to spend some time together making memories at
Walt Disney World Resort before he leaves for deployment. I'm sure that no matter what you do during your vacation it's going to be a special time for your family, but I would be happy to offer some suggestions as to how you can add a little extra magic to this trip.
If your son is a foodie, you could treat him to a special family dinner at one of Walt Disney World Resort's
signature dining restaurants. I don't think you can go wrong with any fine dining experience at Walt Disney World Resort, but I can share with you a few of my favorite restaurants.
I had been wanting to try
Narcoossee's for quite some time, and I finally had the opportunity to have dinner there when my friends and I were visiting last week. We had dinner at Narcoossee's on the first night of our trip, and we could not stop talking about how much we enjoyed it for the rest of our stay. Narcoossee's location along the water at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is gorgeous, and the food and service are both top-notch. Among my other favorite special occasion restaurants,
California Grill and
Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera are both at the top of my list.
When it comes to adding a little extra pixie dust to a vacation, I always recommend taking a look at the
Enchanting Extras Collection. Here you'll find a wide variety of experiences that your family can enjoy together during a special Walt Disney World Resort visit. The fireworks viewing experiences are some of my favorites. You'll find
fireworks dessert parties that allow Guests to indulge in some sweet treats and then take in a performance of
Happily Ever After from a reserved viewing area. For a more intimate fireworks viewing experience, I would highly recommend a
specialty cruise where up to 10 Guests can enjoy one of the nighttime spectaculars from a private boat.
I'm sure you're going to want to preserve your memories from this vacation with lots of photos, so be sure to purchase
Memory Maker for unlimited downloads of your
Disney PhotoPass pictures. You may even want to consider booking a private
Capture Your Moment photo session to help your family commemorate this special Walt Disney World Resort visit.
Terry, I hope this information helps you with planning your trip. Be sure to book all of your dining and experience reservations 60 days in advance, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Wishing you a magical vacation!
Samantha
