I am planning a trip to Disney with my husband, kids, (3 kids age 4 and under) and my parents. We are looking at possibly coming Dec 15-22, 2015….will the crowds be too bad then?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Carin!

I adore visiting Walt Disney World® Resort during the holidays! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year in the most magical place on earth. And with so much yuletide spirit in the air, you're sure to have a festive time.

Based on your travel dates, you can expect anticipated crowd levels be be quite manageable December 15th-18th, with overall crowd levels holding between a 4/5 out of 10 for these days. Crowd levels do increase December 19th-22nd as guests with school-aged children begin to arrive for Christmas week. I do believe by having a good plan in place, you will not be overwhelmed with higher crowd levels during your last few days of vacation. Here are some tips to help the crowded days go more smoothly.

    • Arrive early! Nothing beats the first few hours in the parks before the crowds really get heavy. The first two hours will be critical in accomplishing your must-do attractions. Utilizing Extra Magic Hours will help too.

    • Plan your longer park days for 12/15-12/18.

    • If you're staying on property, use one of the busy theme park days to enjoy your resort hotel. You could also tour the resorts along the Monorail, or in the Epcot area, they will be decked out in their holiday finest. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa even has a life-sized, working Gingerbread House with specialty treats available for sale.

    • Visit Downtown Disney during their "Celebrate the Season" festivities. You will even find a carrousel and train for your little ones to ride in the Marketplace area. While it's not a theme park attraction, it will still be magical to them.

With a plan in place, you will be more than equipped to handle a few days of holiday crowds. Please do not hesitate to send us any additional questions you may have. We are here to help!

    Happy Holidays!
