Hi there, Katrina!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help!
I'm excited to hear you're planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, and that you're planning ahead for your husband's medical needs before traveling. The good news is, Walt Disney World goes to great lengths to help Guests with medical needs relax and enjoy their time in the theme parks.
You will absolutely be allowed to bring your insulin pen, snacks and drinks into the parks with you. You will probably want to let the security Cast Members at the bag check area know that you have medically necessary items in your bag upon entry. Small coolers are allowed, but
loose ice is not, so reusable ice packs are a great idea to keep your insulin cool throughout the day.
Disney Resorts Collection hotels feature small
refrigerators in the room, but may not keep your ice packs completely frozen. If you need assistance freezing ice packs, stop by your resort's front desk or Concierge and they will be able to help. First Aid centers at the resorts can help store medications which require refrigeration, and special containers can be provided for disposal of needles in your resort room.
While in the parks,
First Aid Centers provide a quiet, clean, private place for your husband to administer his injections, with sharps disposal available if needed. (First Aid Centers are easily located by using your
My Disney Experience mobile app.) Nurses are on duty during normal park operating hours if any medical assistance is needed throughout the day.
I hope this helps with your planning, and that you have the most magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation ever. Please come back and visit us here at planDisney for tips and advice to make the most out of your Disney vacation!
