Hello, we are planning a trip to Disney and bringing my Dad along for the trip. There will be a total of 6 of us, he is a Senior Citizen. Any recommendations on a hotel? Thanks in advance..

    Hi Alice,

There are so many wonderful Walt Disney World Resort Hotels! I'll start with how I choose.
    • Budget. Start with how much you are able and willing to spend on your resort stay. Disney has choices for a group the size of yours in every category.
    • Needs of the Group. You say your dad is joining you and is a senior citizen. Does he have any issues that would require special attention? My parents are both in the senior season of their lives and their health is very different. My mother could walk circles around us at the parks, but my father has a progressive illness.
    • Where you plan to spend most of your time. If you plan to spend most of your time at the Magic Kingdom park AND plan to take several midday breaks, you might want to consider a resort close by.

Once you have made these decisions, Walt Disney World has great advice on Resort Rooms for 5 Guests or More. While I love the Family Suites, I'm not sure your dad would want to sleep on one of the fold out beds. I have slept on them and found them surprisingly comfortable, but I can only imagine the look my mother would give me if I suggested she sleep on one. You can often book two rooms at a Value Resort for the same or cheaper than one of the Family Suites.

In the Moderate category you could also choose two rooms, or I would suggest the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort. They give you a little more room to spread out AND have a full kitchen. If your budget allows, my top recommendation would be a two bedroom villa at one of Disney's Deluxe Villa Resorts. I love Old Key West, an incredible amount of room and Bay Lake Tower, unbeatable location.

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
    Wishing you a magical day,
