Hi! We are planning a trip in December with a 5, 3 and just under 2 year old. Our preference is to be near MK. What is the best place for the kids? The GF seemed to be just a bit more than the Polynesian. No brainer to stay at GF? Wilderness? Help!

    Hi Kristina!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!

There is no doubt that the Grand Floridian is a great resort; it is the flagship resort at Walt Disney World.  However, I don't think young children understand its theme or care to.  The Polynesian theme, on the other hand, is something kids definitely understand and enjoy.  Thus I would recommend staying at the Polynesian if you really want to be near the Magic Kingdom and at a resort that children love.  Your children are young, but if they like being near the pool, the Polynesian has a volcano at the pool!  It is fabulous!

Another great option is the Wilderness Lodge.  It is typically less expensive than the other Magic Kingdom Deluxe Resorts.  It is also my personal favorite resort at Walt Disney World.  It has a great theme.  However, it is not located on the monorail, making getting to and from the Magic Kingdom and Epcot just a little longer than being on a monorail resort.  There is a boat that runs between the Wilderness Lodge and the Magic Kingdom, but you have to take a boat to get to Epcot.

Between the two, I would recommend the Polynesian over the Wilderness Lodge.  That is because you have young children and thus you might want easy access to your hotel and to your room; being on the monorail really gives you that.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your decision and please write back with more questions!
