Planning a trip for December 2025 and wonder which week is better is 11/30/25 thru 12/6/25 or 12/14/25 thru 12/20/25? Which week would be busier? Pros and cons appreciated. Thanks

Hi there Tammy, and welcome back to planDisney!

It's always so great to have you back here with another question, and it looks like you're looking for some insight into the holiday crowds at Walt Disney World Resort in order to determine the best week to visit next December. When it comes to spending the holidays here at the theme parks, I'm happy to help you decide the best course of action to have a less stressful time navigating your way through the throngs of fellow families coming down for all the festivities:

    • My biggest personal rule of thumb when it comes to a Disney December is to go earlier in the month if your goal is to avoid the crowds as much as possible. I've spent the past few years tracking trends across the theme parks over the holidays while comparing my in-person observations to the data from wait times collected online; from my experience this has consistently shown that more folks descend upon Walt Disney World Resort the closer you are to Christmas that is also reflected in the pricing for theme park tickets and Lightning Lane Passes with a major peak at the very end of the month.
    • When it comes to planning your trip from November 30 through December 6 in 2025, you'll want to be aware of the residual Thanksgiving crowds over the weekend at the start of your visit which have a tendency to be quite heavy. The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays also tends to start around this time, and those first few days will see an influx of influencers, locals and Annual Passholders alike looking to try all of the newest Disney Eats and experiences - especially on the weekends. While crowd levels and guest trends are always subject to change, I would personally start this week with Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park and save EPCOT and Magic Kingdom Park for the end of this visit.
    • Waiting to go during from December 14 to 20 already shows a rise in pricing to stay at Disney Resort Hotels that week compared to earlier in the month. This increase can also be seen when it comes to tickets for special events like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and Disney Jollywood Nights; since they vary by event date and often conclude during the week prior to Christmas, this week may not only be busier but also come at a higher price tag. Something else to consider is how early children from around the world may be out of school for their break over the holidays, which can contribute to how many more international families may already be arriving ahead of Christmas. (The upside here is that if you're coming with younger children, they may be among the thousands of others who are off school earlier!)
I'll be keeping a close eye while I'm around this December to see whether there are any particular weeks where we experience any sort of dip, but hopefully this helps you decide as you plan ahead for next year, Tammy!

Here's to avoiding that busy holiday hustle and bustle as much as you can!
