Hello! We are planning a trip from December 16-24. My question is will they still do happily ever after fireworks on the 23rd, or is that replaced with the holiday fireworks? Or do they do both?

    Welcome to planDisney, Muhammad!

It’s wonderful to connect with a fellow Virginian, and I especially love that you’re planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation at the most magical time of the year! This is my favorite time to visit, as I adore the specialty treats and merchandise, seasonal music and atmosphere, and of course the stunning holiday decorations. Whether you are celebrating the holiday season or just want to enjoy a nighttime spectacular tradition at Magic Kingdom Park, there are endless things to see and experience together.

You are correct in that historically, Magic Kingdom Park has shown Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks exclusively during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and then this show becomes the main attraction as a nighttime spectacular when the parties are over closer to Christmas Day. The party dates go through December 22, 2023 but there is no formal announcement of the evening entertainment schedule for the holidays beyond that date yet. You can keep an eye on the Park Hours page to see the exact evening entertainment schedule for your trip as it gets closer.  It's a special treat to see that exclusive seasonal fireworks display without attending Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for those final days in December counting down to Christmas Day.

I advise you to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements of this special holiday fireworks display as the holiday season gets underway. You may also come back and ask us this question again, perhaps closer to the beginning of December, for any additional details that may be released by then. It sounds like your trip will span a length of time to allow for a regular viewing of Happily Ever After earlier in the trip if you can plan a day in Magic Kingdom Park when there is not a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party going on that evening.

When it comes time to make your dining reservations (60 days prior to your arrival), you can also look at the offerings for a dessert party for Happily Ever After. These are a wonderful way to enjoy the show with a prime viewing location and specially themed treats! If you’re not interested in that separate ticketed event, you can make note of the days it is being offered as reassurance of the exact dates when Happily Ever After will be the prime nighttime spectacular for your visit.

I hope this helps manage expectations for your family as to which amazing nighttime fireworks spectacular will be on display each night of your visit this December, Muhammad. I also love to look ahead and carefully map out our theme park days aligned to special events or must-see shows, so I appreciate your question and hope this was helpful.

Please let us know how else we can help you make the most of this incredible visit!

    Cheers,
    Amy
