We are planning a trip at Christmas. We usually stay at the Deluxe resorts, but we have to stay a moderate. I am wondering which resort will be more magical during Christmas and which is closest in feeling to a deluxe category resort-CBR or PORT Orleans?

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm happy to share my thoughts on the best moderate resort for a holiday visit.

We've stayed in every moderate resort on Walt Disney World property several times and enjoy them all. However, Port Orleans Riverside has a special place in my heart. It was where we stayed on our first Walt Disney World family vacation more than 20 years ago, and we return there often. We love the tree-lined property and the laid-back Southern feel.

We're also big fans of its sister property, Port Orleans French Quarter, It is the smallest Walt Disney World resort and has an intimate New Orleans appeal. It is frequently the resort my husband and I choose for a weekend getaway.

Because the resorts are adjacent and within a 10-minute walk of each other, guests at either can take advantage of the pools, restaurants, lounges and recreation at both.

On top of the beauty of the resorts, the amenities such as the horse-drawn carriage rides at Port Orleans Riverside and the convenient water taxi service to Disney Springs from both resorts push them to the top of my list of moderate resorts at Walt Disney World.

I think you will have a magical Christmas stay at either Port Orleans, even if you are accustomed to the deluxe resorts.

Thanks again for your question. Please check back with us if we can offer any more tips and advice as you make your plans. Enjoy!
